Yasmine Akondo

As a visual artist, my work focuses on pseudo perception. Pseudo means as much as 'appearance'. Through different actions and interventions, I try to question our way of experiencing things. This results in specific actions, such as placing signs with the caption 'photo moment' at various locations in order to denounce the conditioned actions of people and cameras. In other work (Album Amicorum), I take photographs with as many artists as possible. This is to question the value linked to the image as well as my own status as an artist. Personally, I attach great value to spontaneous experience and believe that it is a daily challenge for all of us not to let this be overshadowed by the urge to record or prove experience.
