Fabienne Snellinx
Fabienne Snellinx (°1969 Alt-Hoeselt, lives and works in Antwerp) studied painting, orthopedagogy, and illustrative design. As a multidisciplinary artist – working across drawing, illustration and painting– she explores and interprets her surroundings like a visual cartographer. Drawing from diverse sources, she engages in dialogue with those around her, uncovers hidden elements, and either reveals or gently veils them.
Through the interplay of various dimensions, she creates a form of cartography that remains open-ended, always inviting new interpretations and imagined realities.
Recently, she created an illustration-based installation for the MAS museum: “A
World of Soups, the Seefhoek”. The work emerged from conversations with
neighbourhood residents about their favourite soups, personal memories and
traditions. This installation serves as the concluding piece of the exhibition “Antwerp à la Carte”, located on the museum’s fifth floor.
Alongside her individual practice, Fabienne is also involved in a range of socially engaged art projects.
