Joris De Rycke

I am constantly moving between green, grey and brown areas. I collect all kinds of physical things (driftwood, seeds, stones, fossils and discarded objects) but also collect in my memory. All this together becomes a workable humus from which images, projects, ideas and new journeys arise. In addition, I am working on creating new varieties of apple trees from what grows up from discarded cores in harbour and transit areas. The urban flora of Antwerp is being mapped out with a plant working group. Everything is a kind of creation of ecosystems from aquariums and gardens to artistic practice.
