About Archipel

Archipel is a creatively curated arts workspace managed by artists, providing residents with an environment conducive to focused work on their individual bodies of work. Situated within an urban development zone on the former Engie Site at the Lobroekdok in Antwerp North, it stands as a unique, artistic collective workspace. This exceptional location, amidst the transformation of the surrounding neighborhood, serves as an endless wellspring of inspiration. The diversity of disciplines represented within Archipel fosters constant mutual inspiration.

In addition to the approximately 50 diverse permanent residents, known as the 'Archipellers,' who create here from various artistic disciplines, Archipel also hosts guests. These individuals or organizations are given the space to work with full concentration on new projects. Archipel initiates and supports social and artistic interventions through exhibitions, performances, and debates, as well as through the organization of workshops and festivals.

Archipel, beyond being a studio, serves as a growth and meeting space, an inclusive learning environment that builds bridges towards the neighborhood and city through participatory projects and experiments with politically inclusive collaboration models. Archipel aims to be the driving force for art and culture in the developing neighborhood, with the goal of establishing a permanent presence there.
