Parade –
Breeding Grounds Brigade Parade Flanders: Antwerp and Flemish-Brussels place-making initiatives unite in the Breeding grounds Parade
– a mobile procession full of art, music, and action.
With Art-en Go cars and pimped-up bikes, we will travel through the city of Antwerp to advocate for experimental breeding ground functions: places where art, culture, and social experimentation are given space in the urban fabric.
Along the way, we will hand out pamphlets with a manifesto and appeal, summarizing two years of Tothem Vlaanderen: a knowledge-sharing platform on making grassroots place-making initiatives in urban transition areas more sustainable.
The parade connects Noch Vis Noch Vlees (festival at Archipel) with
Out Of Space festival (Onder Stroom, hosted by Stormkop).
The full program:

Friday 12/09 – Kick-off at De Blikfabriek with dinner + ritual concert Ak'chamel
Saturday 13/09 – BroedplekBrigade Parade + festival NochVisNochVlees @ Archipel & Out of Space @ Stormkop
Sunday 14/09 – Hangover breakfast at Bar Paniek + FlisVos >>> reservations here

This parade is a call for more experimental breeding grounds and free havens in our cities. Places where art, activism, and coexistence find new forms. Sustainable socio-artistic biotopes that breathe life into our urban future.
Join in, add color, cycle along. Join the Broedplekken-Bond Vlaanderen (Flanders Breeding Grounds Association)!

ToT/h\em is a supra-local network of ten Flemish site-specific cultural players. Together, they are working on a three-year learning trajectory on the topic: the role of the arts in urban transformation.
The focus is on knowledge development and expertise exchange between various pioneers and grassroot initiatives. The common denominator between each of them is leaving, betting on experimentation, learning and connecting. Through this network, the focus is on local knowledge and strategies to achieve sustainability within an urban diverse context. So that such initiatives can become permanent cultural presences in the urban landscape.
ToT/them refers to the word ‘totem’, which in turn comes from the Algonquin word ‘odoodem’, and means ‘kinship within a group’. This also contains the English ‘to them’. After all, the aim is for the result to also be made public to the outside world, so that others can also reap the benefits of this collaboration.
