Dissonant is a sonic and journalistic project initiated by Katrien Schuermans (she/they). With Dissonant Katrien aims to highlight female* and LGBTQIA+ electronic and experimental musicians. Primarily through a monthly radioshow on Radio Vacarma, in writing on dissonant.nu and as a dj. Katrien is a strong music enthusiast with nearly 20 years of experience as a musician, writer, critic and curator. Dissonant sits between immersive ambient and a UK Bass, breaks and bleeps powered techno-loving joyful dancefloor.

Your contemporary guide, moving outside the margins of the well-trodden music landscape.

Dissonant was created in 2020 to support women, non-binary and lgbtqi+ people in (primarily) the electronic music scene. It will act as a curator and as a journalistic platform, on- and offline.
