This Sunday marks Ukraine's Independence Day, which is celebrated annually on August 24.

There are currently many Ukrainian artists in Antwerp, they join forces to make this day an unforgettable positive party as a benefit for Ukrainian victims. They invite everyone to join the ceremony. 

A few Ukrainian stars take the stage: actors and actresses, singers and even an entire singing group, a theater company, dancers, but also painters & poets. Workshops with crafts and crafts for young and old and children's entertainment are provided.

Support and order your Ukrainian meal for 10 euros via the link at the bottom. Proceeds go to Ukraine!

“Motanka”: making dolls amulets - learning to tie Ukrainian scarves - weaving flower wreaths - making jewelery and for the children there will be a grimace and a drawing workshop.

Further follow:

Halyna Ivanovaon bandura (traditional string instrument from Ukraine), poetry byMarija Zadorozhenko & Anatoly Lobanovand even a scene of the intercultural Antwerptheater group Antwerpriza and a flash mob dance accompanied by the youngCatherine Khaynuswith group performancesChervona Kalyna. We end with a beautiful closing ceremony.

Kotylevych Nelliwas until recently a teacher at the Odessa National Music Academy and is an actress, singer and director herself. She is a performer of opera arias, traditional songs and has participated in various festivals and musicals.

Halyna Ivanovacomes from a small village in the Carpathians. From childhood she learned to play in music school on Ukrainian folk instrument - bandura. Later she worked as a teacher at the music academy and taught children to play the instrument. 

Katia Harasiuk,presenter and singer is the hostess for this special soiree, she switches smoothly between Ukrainian and Dutch.

Vira Zalozetskacomes from the Carpathians. She has been singing for as long as she can remember. In Belgium, she took part in the festival of Ukrainian songs.

Marina Tsaranis a Ukrainian model, actress and singer of the SKYMARIN group, member of the "Voice of Ukraine 7" (Potap team), ex-soloist of the Ukrainian pop group RealO, she acted in several international series and movies. One of the projects was with a Belgian production in Antwerp, a series called “Fair Trade”. Pleasant and warm memories were the main reason for Marina to move to this country and city.

Anastasiia Staroselska

Before the war, she worked as a singer with the Sumy National Drama and Musical Comedy Theater and the Sumy Philharmonic. She arrived in Belgium with her 8-year-old son after bombing her home, her husband stayed in Sumy, to support the armed forces.

Pribeha Diana, a young artist, recently graduated from Kyiv Municipal Academy of Variety and Circus Arts.

Maria + Rec 

Singer, teacher, eco-activist, "Voice of Ukraine" talent show contestant and superfinalist of the X Factor.

Catherine Khaynus- born in Belgium has practiced different dance styles over the years. She has been teaching dance to girls for 5 years and has performed on various stages in Flanders. This day she will present her new dance with the children's collective Chervona Kalyna.

Lenara Osmanova 

is a Ukrainian singer of Crimean Tatar descent, teacher of the pop singing department of the Kiev City Academy of pop and circus arts. She represents the culture of the Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian people in many countries of the world, with 2 solo albums and several solo programs. She is finalist of Ukrainian "Eurovision-2009". 

Victoria Goncharova- musician, composer from Odessa. 

Anna Soboleva isgraduated from Kherson State University and Kherson Music school. She moved to Antwerp, Belgium in 2000. Now Hanna helps her compatriots as an interpreter.

Poetry by, among others

Lobanov Anatoly Petrovich,a respected actor, professor at the National Art University of Kharkiv, drama and drama department and director of Theater of Kharkiv.

He presents an anthology of Ukrainian authorsBorys Oliynyk, Sydor Vorobkevych, Oleksandr Oles, Vasyl Symonenko, Viktor Chabanenko, Volodymyr Sosyura and Taras Shevchenko.

We close at dusk with a beautiful ceremony in which folkloric garlands and candles are left around and in the water hole, in memory of the victims of the war in Ukraine.

This ceremony is also the last of the BabelFestival and therefore also a special moment for the entire Babelcrew. So come and say goodbye with us.
