Wieke Aerts was born in the Netherlands and has been living and working in Antwerp for more than two decades. She trained as a goldsmith and silversmith at the Vakschool Schoonhoven in the Netherlands. Eager to learn, Wieke continued her studies and graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of the Arts Utrecht (HKU), department of architectural design/3D design, also in the Netherlands. Years later, Wieke obtained a Master of Arts degree from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, specialising in jewellery design and goldsmithing.

Over the years, her jewellery and objects have been presented in various exhibitions worldwide and she has worked for various metalworkers, designers, artists and galleries. Wieke also enjoyed collaborating on a number of projects in various artistic disciplines.

Wieke Aerts has been teaching at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp for quite some time now and continues to work on her artistic projects.
