Stephanie Schneider
IT IS ETERNITY FOR THE PRESENT AND PATIENCE FOR THE TRANSIENT. IT IS DETAILS FOR THE MINIMALIST AND NOSTALGIA FOR THE STOIC.
Growing up amidst the sublime landscape of the German Alps, Stephanie Schneider's purist sense of beauty was nurtured by her remote, bucolic surroundings, and through traditional craft techniques she has found a medium to express this unique aesthetic. Schneider's textile background is clearly visible in each of her pieces, as she translates her sense of pure and precise textures into delicate, timeless jewellery of the highest quality, with great skill and attention to detail. She blends materials ranging from mohair to silk and linen with traditional jewellery metals.
Schneider's jewellery label 17 was launched in Berlin, Germany, in 2006.
The name of the label, 17, represents Schneider's philosophy through her interest in numerology: 1 is the beginning, 7 is perfection, and when added together they equal 8, a number that symbolises eternity.
A fitting philosophy, because people keep beautiful jewellery forever.
Stephanie studied fashion and textile design at FH Reutlingen in Germany and at the Winchester School of Art in Great Britain.
She graduated in 2001 and then worked as a freelance designer for labels such as Jurgi Persoons, Antwerp, Hussein Chalayan, London, Kostas Murkudis, Berlin, and Creatures of the Wind, New York.
Since 2016, she has been living and working in Antwerp, Belgium.
