Fabienne Snellinx

Fabienne Snellinx (born in 1969 in Alt-Hoeselt, lives and works in Antwerp) studied painting, orthopedagogy and illustrative design.
As a versatile artist – draughtswoman, illustrator and painter – she explores and processes her surroundings like an imaginative cartographer. She draws on various sources of information, enters into dialogue with her surroundings and processes them as an imaginative cartographer. As a versatile artist – draughtswoman, illustrator and painter – she explores and processes her surroundings like an imaginative cartographer. She draws on various sources of information, engages in dialogue with bystanders, discovers hidden elements and reveals or conceals them.

By playing with different dimensions, she creates a cartography that is never complete, but always invites new interpretations and realities.

As an illustrator, she recently created an installation for the MAS: 'A world full of soups, the seefhoek'. The work arose from conversations with local residents about their favourite soups, personal memories and traditions. The installation forms the finale of the exhibition 'Antwerp à la Carte' on the fifth floor of the museum.

In addition to her personal artistic practice, Fabienne is active in a variety of social-artistic projects.
