Davey WAXX Verhaeghe

"Dreamer"
Ask him who he is and what he does...
A trailblazer or an artist, sketch artist or painter... ?
He prefers to call himself a designer rather than an artist.

Davey observes and analyses his experiences and encounters from different perspectives. One moment he is painting, the next he is stripping old cupboards, dropping by for a chat or sitting quietly in a corner. A true dreamer who dreams of having people close to him.

Davey wants to be able to confront people with their emotions and thoughts in an environment where diversity is central. The key is communication and interaction, development and cohesion. It is what makes us stronger and stimulates the mind in our daily lives. Human beings need communication in everything, otherwise a real experience remains impossible. That is why an encounter with Davey will make the work more personal and stronger.

Davey's work tells a story of abstract alienation that makes you wonder how to deal with this confrontation. Do you see it as an experience or as an embrace? In his own words, it is more of a non-figurative art with little philosophy but a lot of emotion. This is particularly evident in his geometrically abstract work with its characteristic horizontal lines, rectangles and triangles. Once the idea is in his head, the preparation process begins weeks in advance. So when the idea emerges, it is almost ready.

For him, abstraction is a feeling, a concept that needs to be framed and where you have to distance yourself from reality. It can reveal fundamental values about reality. The excess of stimuli from the outside world creates obstacles. But Davey's work captures these impulses and offers us a new perspective.
