A boundary pusher or a draftsman, sketcher or painter, … ?
He prefers to call himself a designer rather than an artist.
Davey looks and analyzes his experiences and encounters from different angles. One moment he will be painting, the next he will strip old cupboards, drop by for a chat or sit silently in the corner. A true dreamer, dreaming of having people close to him.
Davey wants to have the opportunity to confront people with their emotions and thoughts, in an environment where diversity stands central. The key is communication and interaction, development and coherence. It’s what makes us stronger and stimulates the mind in our daily life. Man needs communication in everything, otherwise a real experience will remain impossible. That’s why meeting Davey will make the work more personal and stronger.
Davey’s work tells a story of abstract alienation at which you ask yourself how to deal with this confrontation. Do you see it as an experience or as an embrace? In his own words it’s rather a non-figurative art with little philosophy but contains a whole lot of emotion. This is mainly reflected in his geometric abstract work with characteristic horizontal lines, rectangles and triangles. Once the idea is in his head, the process of preparing already started for weeks. So when the idea comes out it will be nearly finished.
Abstractness is a feeling to him, a concept that has to be framed and where you have to distant yourself from reality. It can reveal fundamental values about reality.
The excess of stimuli from the outside world presents obstacles. But Davey's work captures these impulses and offers us a new perspective.

"Dromer"
Vraag hem wie hij is en wat hij doet...
Een grensverlegger of een tekenaar, schetser of schilder, ... ?
Hij noemt zichzelf liever ontwerper dan kunstenaar.
Davey bekijkt en analyseert zijn ervaringen en ontmoetingen vanuit verschillende invalshoeken. Het ene moment is hij aan het schilderen, het andere moment stript hij oude kasten, komt hij langs voor een praatje of zit hij stilletjes in een hoekje. Een echte dromer, die ervan droomt om mensen dicht bij zich te hebben.
Davey wil de mogelijkheid hebben om mensen te confronteren met hun emoties en gedachten, in een omgeving waar diversiteit centraal staat. De sleutel is communicatie en interactie, ontwikkeling en samenhang. Het is wat ons sterker maakt en de geest stimuleert in ons dagelijks leven. De mens heeft in alles communicatie nodig, anders blijft een echte ervaring onmogelijk. Daarom zal een ontmoeting met Davey het werk persoonlijker en sterker maken.
Davey's werk vertelt een verhaal van abstracte vervreemding waarbij je je afvraagt hoe je met deze confrontatie omgaat. Zie je het als een ervaring of als een omarming? Naar eigen zeggen is het eerder een non-figuratieve kunst met weinig filosofie maar bevat het een heleboel emotie. Dit komt vooral tot uiting in zijn geometrisch abstracte werk met kenmerkende horizontale lijnen, rechthoeken en driehoeken. Als het idee eenmaal in zijn hoofd zit, begint het voorbereidingsproces al weken. Dus wanneer het idee naar buiten komt, is het al bijna klaar.
Abstractheid is voor hem een gevoel, een concept dat ingekaderd moet worden en waarbij je afstand moet nemen van de werkelijkheid. Het kan fundamentele waarden over de werkelijkheid onthullen.
De overdaad aan prikkels uit de buitenwereld werpt obstakels op. Maar Davey's werk vangt deze impulsen en biedt ons een nieuw perspectief.
